Kelli Montgomery is a Connecticut-based artist and jewelry designer specializing in unique handcrafted wearable art.
Finally, I'm back at the bench doing what I love: Creating unique wearable art! I had a long hiatus raising my two boys and pursuing my other passion of racing as an elite triathlete and coaching athletes as well. Way back in high school art class I fell in love with making jewelry and knew I wanted to go to art school. I attended and graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Metalsmithing. From there I spent a number of years working as a jeweler in a small shop, further honing my skills before my break.
For some time now I have wanted to return to my creative side, since I felt a part of myself was missing. Now I'm back with plenty of energy! Many of my designs are organic in nature, inspired by all the time I spend outdoors. My athletic pursuits have brought me to amazing spots around the globe, from the jungles of Thailand to Brazil. I've taken all those adventures and their visual, emotional, and sensory power and incorporated them into my art.
All my unique pieces are hand fabricated with an emphasis on high craftsmanship. I find the creative process relaxing and rhythmic, and an expression of my life experiences. I try not to impose rules on materials and designs, letting my work naturally flow from within. I'm looking forward to delving deeper and creating more works of wearable art.
